Choosing a web hosting provider in Nepal: what actually matters
Price is only one part of hosting. Here is what to check — performance, backups, support and email — before you choose where your website or system will run.

Most hosting decisions are made on price alone. That works until the site goes down during a busy week, a plugin update breaks something, or nobody can say when the last backup was taken. Hosting is the foundation your website or business system runs on, so it is worth choosing deliberately.
Start with what you are hosting
A brochure website, an online booking system and a multi-user business application have very different needs.
Websites need reliable uptime, SSL and fast page loads.
Web applications also need the right runtime (PHP, Node.js or Python), a database, scheduled jobs and enough memory to handle many users at once.
Business systems hold data your organization depends on, so backups and security matter as much as speed.
Knowing which category you are in narrows the options quickly.
Check how backups work
Ask three questions: how often are backups taken, where are they stored, and how long does a restore take? A backup stored on the same server as the website does not help if that server fails. Daily backups kept off-server, with a tested restore process, are a sensible minimum for anything business-critical.
Look at performance close to your users
If most of your visitors are in Nepal, where the server sits and how traffic reaches it affects speed. A CDN such as Cloudflare can serve static files from locations closer to users and adds protection against common attacks. For applications, server resources (CPU, memory, disk type) matter more than the advertised storage figure.
Make sure SSL and security are included
Every site should load over HTTPS. Free certificates are standard now, so SSL should be included and renewed automatically. Beyond that, ask who applies operating system and software updates, and whether there is a firewall and login protection.
Find out who you will talk to
Support is where hosting providers differ most. When something breaks, can you reach someone who understands both the server and the application running on it? This is the main reason many organizations host with the same team that builds their software: one call, one team responsible.
Consider email at the same time
Business email on your own domain is often set up alongside hosting. Keeping email separate from the web server — or at least properly configured with SPF, DKIM and DMARC — helps messages reach inboxes instead of spam folders.
A short checklist
Is the hosting suited to your site or application's technology?
Are backups daily, off-server and restorable?
Is SSL included and automatic?
Who handles updates and security?
How do you reach support, and do they understand your application?
Is business email part of the plan?
